Law Enforcement II

CTE TEKS - Implemented 2017-2018, adopted in 2015

Law Enforcement II course scope and sequence within the Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security Career Cluster® summarizes the content to be taught, and one possible order for teaching the units of instruction. A brief description of each unit and the corresponding TEKS are included. This scope and sequence may be adapted or adopted by the local education agency.

Interpersonal skills are important in law enforcement careers. Law enforcement professionals must be able to utilize interpersonal skills as they carry out their professional duties. This lesson explores interpersonal skills and provides students opportunities to practice it.

In this lesson, students will research new technologies used in law enforcement, new technologies being developed, and analyze considerations for agencies to update or integrate new technology.

In this lesson, students learn about conflict resolution skills. This lesson includes activities that can be used in multiple classes.

Law Enforcement officers primarily handle criminal law activities. However, there are some circumstances in which a law enforcement officer may become involved in the civil process. Officers must understand the different types of civil service, the limits on the use of force and entry, and the civil process that has criminal penalties. This lesson familiarizes students with the civil procedures followed by the officers in law enforcement.

The transportation of prisoners by an officer must be conducted in a manner that provides for the safety of the officer, the prisoners, and the general public. Through this lesson, students will understand the safe procedures for transporting and searching prisoners without violating their constitutional rights.

This lesson is an introduction to the proper procedures for handling and managing explosives and other hazardous materials. A mock bomb threat and response activity is included. 

In this lesson, students learn about victims' rights. The lesson also emphasizes the importance of legal recourse, court procedures and working with individuals with special needs.

In this lesson, students will learn about different types of hate crimes. In addition, they will learn about why hate crimes occur, and the legislation surrounding hate crimes.

Too Young To Drink is a website created by the Education and Prevention Division of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) to help serve the communities of Texas by providing an easier way to resource information and order our publications.

Underage alcohol consumption has been a primary focus of the agency for many years and will continue to garner great attention and effort by the TABC.
